1982 should have been Didier Pironi's but having qualified on Pole Position for the German GP at Hockenheim, he crashed in practice and missed the last 5 races of the season. The final race decided the Drivers' Championship between Keke Rosberg on 42 points and John Watson who had scored 33; although Watson finished ahead of Rosberg he had to be content with equal second in the championship, with Pironi.

The Constructors' Championship was equally tight with Patrick Tambay, Gilles Villeneuve and Mario Andretti all scoring points to add to Pironi's to help Ferrari with the 126C2 to the title. McLaren came a close second with the MP4 & MP4Bs of Watson and Niki Lauda and the Renault RE30Bs of Alain Prost and Rene Arnoux were third. The Renaults had led for almost half the laps during the season but suffered from reliability problems.

Ross Wardles artwork depicts Keke Rosberg's Williams-Cosworth 08 leading the Swiss GP at Dijon-Prenois (in France), followed Alain Prost's Renault RE30B and Niki Lauda driving a McLaren-Cosworth MP4B.

The second special is autographed by MAURO BALDI, the Italian driver who started racing with a Renault 5, taking the Italian and European one-make titles in 1977, before moving on to F3 with a Ralt. He won the Monaco F3 race with this car in 1980; the next season he did even better, winning 8 races on the way to the 1981 European F3 title. He started his F1 career with Arrows in 1982, finishing in 7 races and scoring points at Zandvoort and the Osterreichring. For 1983 he joined Alfa Romeo and again scored points.

He spent 1984/85 with the Spirit Team achieving good placings but narrowly missing out on points. He left F1 for sports car racing when the Spirit Team folded after 3 races of the 1985 season, and achieved instant success with a win for Lancia at Spa. He had great success in this field with a win in Japan, becoming the 1990 World Champion, and further wins at Le Mans, Daytona (2), Sebring, and Watkins Glen. In 1999 he took up Grand Am racing and gained several notable victories.
